Email Append Alternatives
Email append is a great way to build your electronic marketing
database, however somecompanies don't have the resources or the
customer postal records required to take advantage of this process.

an email database. You may decide to employ some of these email
address collection techniques even if you do decide to append.
#1 Start An Email Newsletter
An email newsletter is a great way to build an email list. You can
promote this email newsletter on your web site, in your paper correspondence,
on your telephone messages, on your product packaging and in press
releases. The newsletter should offer something of benefit to your
customers that will make them want to subscribe and give you their
email addresses.
#2 Begin a Grass Roots Collection Effort
Get in the habit of asking your customers for their email addresses.
Give your sales people and customer service agents an incentive
for collecting customer emails on a regular basis. They should clearly
state what the email address will be used for, how the client will
benefit, and that the client can remove himself at any time.
#3 Require Site Registration
Do you offer an online resource for your customers? Consider offering
a "customer only" section that requires them to submit
their email address to receive their access instructions.
#4 Host An Online Giveaway
If you have a postal database for your customers you could send
each customer a postcard inviting them to take part in an online
giveaway which requires them to submit their email in order to notified
of results.
There are many ways to collect email addresses. Be creative. But
above all, make sure to respect the rights and privacy of your customers
and make your opt-out process quick and easy for those who may wish
to remove themselves later.
